Can you make an Executive Decision? By Elaine Davenport (Tuesday, June 26, 2007)

I saw this movie called Executive Decision. It was a story about some terrorists taking over a plane and how ordinary people overcame them. It was suspenseful, but the most impressionable part was when the "hero" had to fly a plane in mid air for the first time in his life to save the people. First, he had to defeat the terrorists one by one in the air; but then he had to land the plane. ONLY ONE PROBLEM: MOVIES AREN'T REAL.

Now there are more than 15 steps to landing a plane in a real life. You've got to:
THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST.

1. Get to the controls and take a seat
2. Check your fuel continuously
3. Put on the radio headset
4. Say: "Mayday, Mayday."
5. Turn to station 121.5 (You can get help there)
6. Look at the instrumentation/see if the plane is level
7. Make sure the plane is flying straight
8. Find the altimer- this tells you your altitude (it's in the center of the control
panel.)
9. Begin your descent- pull the throttle back to slow down, as the plane slows, the nose drops.
10. Deploy the landing gear; if you're landing on water leave the landing gear up.
11. Look for a place to land. Preferably flat ground. If you're headed for trees; aim for the middle of them so that the wings will bear the impact.
12. Line the plane up.
13. Pull way back on the throttle/make sure the nose of the plane doesn't dip too much.
14. If you have time, drive over the area you intend to land in and look for obstructions.

15. Use the floor pedal to steer and brake the plane.

If you took the time to read this list and scan it; you would not be too eager to be in this situation. No one is; yet emergency plane landings happen all of the time. Most don't make the news unless something happens.

YOUR EXECUTIVE DECISION

You just have to turn your problem over to God. That's all you have to do. He can't work on it if you still are, so when you turn it over; let it go.

THE GOOD NEWS

I'll say it again another way. The good news is you don't have to do all this with God. He's in charge and yet a lot of people have trouble giving their troubles, cares, anxieties and burdening situations to God.

Joshua 1: 8 says:
This book of the law, thou shalt meditate therein day and night, for then thou can make thy way prosperous and then thou can have good success.

But, first you have to believe and trust God and you have to believe that God lives on the inside of you born again believer. If you have this revelation knowledge and not sense knowledge; your decision will be easy.

It's not unusual to run into people who say: "I don't know what I'm going to do." When we hear this; our job is to point them to God.

If you cast your burden on God; don't take it back. I see and hear this all the time. People praying daily for the same thing they asked God to take care of yesterday. God can hear. He heard you the first time. Be patient and stand in faith. Do not waiver. Be confident and courageous.

Psalm 34: 19:
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

This is not meant to teach you specifically how to fly a plane. It is just intended to show you the number of rules involved. This is a brief synopsis; there'sa a lot more to it than this.
